A few months ago, I made a decision that would alter the course of my life: I quit my stable job of 12 years in sales to pursue my dream of hosting events and providing consulting services in the event industry, launching my own business. It wasn't an easy decision by any means, but I knew deep down it was the right one for me.

Why did I take this leap? It all boiled down to a longing for freedom. Don't get me wrong, my previous job provided security and stability, but I craved something more. I felt a burning desire to chart my own path, to challenge myself in new ways, and to create something from scratch that was uniquely mine. Something that allowed me to express my creativity and connect with people on a deeper level.

My years of experience in leadership roles and working across the world with different cultures and client types gave me the confidence that I had the capacity to manage my own business. Moreover, my extensive network of connections provided a solid foundation to build upon.

The idea of hosting events and providing consulting services in the event industry resonated with me on multiple levels. It offered the opportunity to merge my passion for communication and leadership with my innate knack for creating memorable experiences.

Every client I accompany on their event, every successful hosting gig, reaffirms my decision to follow my dreams and carve out my own path.

The leap into entrepreneurship requires courage though. It means stepping into the unknown and being willing to build everything from the ground up. But as the Nike slogan goes, sometimes you have to "just do it." I didn't want to live with regrets or wonder 'what if'. I knew that the only way to truly know if I could succeed was to take that leap of faith.

One of the most crucial factors in embarking on this journey was the unwavering support from my husband, family and friends. Their belief in me gave me the courage and confidence to pursue my dreams, even when doubts crept in. Surrounding yourself with people who uplift and encourage you is invaluable when facing challenges.

Believing in oneself is paramount when venturing into the unknown. Self-doubt can be paralyzing, but learning to trust in your abilities and instincts is key. As I've grown older, I've come to accept that life inherently involves risk. However, I've also learned that the most fulfilling experiences often arise from taking those risks.

Living in the present moment has become increasingly important to me as I've navigated through life's ups and downs. Dwelling on the past or fixating on the future only serves to distract from the beauty of the present. Embracing the here and now allows for a deeper appreciation of life's journey.

I used to be a control freak, but life has a funny way of teaching you to let go and embrace uncertainty. Learning to go with the flow has been a transformative lesson for me. It's taught me to listen to my inner voice and align my actions with what truly brings me joy and fulfillment.

Ultimately, my journey from sales to entrepreneurship has been about reclaiming my sense of freedom. The freedom to pursue my passions, the freedom to create my own path, and the freedom to live life on my own terms. And let me tell you, there's something incredibly liberating about that.

So, to anyone out there contemplating taking a leap of faith, I urge you to trust in yourself, surround yourself with supportive people, and embrace the unknown. Life is too short to live with regrets. Seize the moment and chase your dreams, because in the end, it's the journey that truly matters.
